The Promotion Office

The Promotion Office is responsible for popularising science, including the achievements of academics, and shaping the image of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science. The Office was established at the Faculty of FAIS in 2009 under the name of Careers and Promotion Office. For the first eight years of the Office's existence, its activities revolved around tasks promoting the Faculty and career counselling for students and contacts with companies. Since 2017, the work of the Office has been entirely devoted to the promotion of science. The main tasks of the unit include:

  • Promotion of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science, organisation of advertising campaigns
  • Organisation of the Faculty's popular science events: National Competition "Chain Experiment", "Physics Academy" - scientific session for pupils, Trial A-levels in Physics, series of popular science lectures for pupils "Scientific Thursdays", series of popular science lectures "Closer to Science"
  • Co-organisation of popular science events and presentations of the Faculty as part of popular science events (e.g. Open Day, Festival of Science and Arts in Krakow, Malopolska Researcher’s Night)
  • Creation and administration of websites, i.e. the Faculty website, pages for events organised by the Office
  • Running social media channels (Facebook, YouTube)
  • Design and organisation of the Faculty's promotional materials
  • Cooperation with schools
  • Contact with the media
  • Organisation of graduation promotion ceremonies
  • Organisation of doctoral renewal ceremonies
