How to join the library
Any student of the Jagiellonian University who has a valid entry in the USOS system can enroll in the FAIS Faculty Library. At the end of the academic year, all books must be returned and the library account closed. Only people with an active library account can use the library.
Books borrowing
You can borrow 6 books at a time. Students of the FAIS Faculty, studying in the third year of Bachelor's studies, as well as in the first and second years of Master's studies, may borrow 8 books, doctoral students - 10. Books are borrowed for 2 months, for some works the Librarian may set a different borrowing period. It is recommended to use the library's self-borrowing device. After logging in to their library account, readers may prolong the books online, provided that the books have not been ordered by another reader and the deadline for their return has not expired. The extension can also be made in person or by phone, you can also send an e-mail to the following address: biblioteka.WFAIS@uj.edu.pl
Information about the upcoming return date is automatically sent to the user's e-mail.
Due to epidemiological reasons, book returns are accepted mainly through the 24-hour drop box, located in front of the library.
Books intended solely for the reading room are marked with red or green stickers. You can use them on site or rent them for a day.
Library computer catalogue - katalogi.uj.edu.pl
The catalogue is common for the Jagiellonian Library, the WFAIS Library and other faculty and institute libraries of the Jagiellonian University. This means that indexes (author's, title index, subject index, etc.) show the resources of the entire network of JU libraries. To check whether a given book is available in the WFAIS Library, you must be logged in and expand the location information. Books can be located in the following locations: WYDZ. FIZYKI – Parter1, WYDZ. FIZYKI – Parter2 or WYDZ. FIZYKI – Piętro.
Reading rooms
The reading room can be used by students, PhD students and employees of WFAIS UJ. We provide computer workstations with Internet access (to gain access to the system, on the login screen, enter the login: student and password: „FAIS”). We encourage you to use your own equipment. When attending lectures on-line, please use your own headphones.
Arrangement of books
The Library's book collection is divided into several sections. In sections, books are arranged alphabetically according to the authors' surnames. If a book does not have an author or there are more than 3 authors, it is set under the title.
IBUK and ebookpoint BIBLIO websites
IBUK Libra service (libra.ibuk.pl) is available from any computer belonging to the Jagiellonian University network without logging in. Workers and students of the Jagiellonian University have access to this website also from outside the university network. WFAIS students also have access to the ebookpoint BIBLIO database (biblio.ebookpoint.pl), which includes books on computer science.
