Internal Promotion Procedure for the Position of Assistant Professor

This procedure is intended for academic staff employed at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University (FAIS JU), who do not have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of repairing research equipment used in the laboratories of the Faculty.

1. Source of Funding

The funds for repair subsidies come from the FAIS budget.

2. Application Rules

Applications for funding should be submitted to the Dean of FAIS. The request may concern only the costs necessary for the repair of scientific equipment.

3. Application Review

The application is reviewed by the Committee for the Equipment Emergency Support Fund (AFI), which acts as an advisory body to the Dean of FAIS in matters of urgent financial support needed to restore full functionality of research equipment.

4. Evaluation Criteria

When evaluating the application, the Committee will take into account:

• the documented effectiveness of equipment use to date,
• its role in the implementation of research projects/grants,
• its use in training young researchers,
• its connection to patent and commercial activities.

5. Level of Co-Funding

• As a rule: up to 50% of the total repair cost.
• The remaining funds should be secured from other sources by the applicant.
• In exceptionally well-justified cases, the Committee and the Dean may approve funding above 50%.

6. Eligibility Conditions

Funding may only be granted for equipment made available in accordance with the Regulations for the Use of Research Infrastructure at the Jagiellonian University (Resolution of the Senate No. 59/IV/2015 of April 29, 2015).
