Field Theory I
Requirements:
Credits for algebra, calculus, mathematical methods in physics, classical electrodynamics, basic quantum mechanics.
Description:
Elementary introduction to the modern theory of classical and quantum fields is given. The main topics for the winter semester include:
- Lagrangian formalism
- scalar fields
- fermionic fields (Dirac, Majorana, Weyl)
- vector fields, including Yang-Mills
- important classical solutions (solitons, topological defects)
- simple examples of quantum fields.
