Biophysics

The doctoral students of biophysics and medical physics are involved, inter alia, in the following externally funded research projects:

  • Protein and nucleotide nanolayers for biosensor application;
  • Effects of man-made organic surfaces on protein and cell behavior;
  • AFS in the studies of cell adhesion and protein-drug bonds;
  • Structural, compositional, and mechanical properties of human endothelium cells;
  • MRI of lungs using hyperpolarized gases;
  • Biophotonics: tags, biomarkers, sensors and sensitizers;
  • New materials in photodynamic therapy;
  • Radiation effects in biological structures;
  • MEG (magneto-encephalography) applications;
  • Molecular and nanoparticle dynamics in biological systems;
  • Molecular mechanisms of extreme conditions tolerance of extremophiles;
  • DNA-based optoelectronics;
  • Computational Biosciences and Bioinformatics;
  • Properties of Langmuir monolayers.
