Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences

The Mathematical and Natural Sciences Programme is designed for students interested in combining different fields of exact and natural sciences and in shaping their own educational pathway.

The programme offers an individualised course of study, allowing students to create their own curriculum by selecting courses from a broad range of subjects offered by six faculties of Jagiellonian University.

Studies are pursued under the guidance of an academic mentor chosen from among the research and teaching staff of the participating faculties. From the first year onwards, students work closely with their mentor to design an individual study plan aligned with their scientific interests and future academic or professional goals.

During the first years of study, students pursue an individually designed curriculum developed in accordance with their academic interests. The programme leads to a degree in a chosen major field of study and, in selected cases, allows students to graduate with two degrees.

The Mathematical and Natural Sciences Programme combines the educational offer of six faculties of Jagiellonian University and allows students to study within 26 degree programmes in the fields of exact and natural sciences.

Why choose the Mathematical and Natural Sciences Programme?

The programme offers:

  • an individual study plan developed with the support of an academic mentor,
  • the opportunity to take courses at six faculties of Jagiellonian University,
  • the possibility of combining different scientific disciplines within a personalised curriculum,
  • a broad choice of major fields of study,
  • the possibility of obtaining one or two degrees,
  • participation in a programme that has been offered at Jagiellonian University since 1993.

From Studies to Academic and Professional Careers

A defining feature of the programme is its individualised approach to education and the opportunity to build a unique academic pathway through courses drawn from different scientific disciplines.

Many students become involved in research activities at an early stage of their studies, participate in research projects, publish their first scientific papers and take part in international academic exchange programmes.

For more than thirty years, the programme has attracted students interested in crossing disciplinary boundaries and combining knowledge from different fields. Its graduates include researchers affiliated with leading scientific institutions in Poland and abroad, as well as professionals pursuing careers in high-technology sectors, including companies in Silicon Valley such as Google, and strategic consulting firms such as Bain & Company.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Mathematical and Natural Sciences Programme acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in designing and pursuing an individual educational pathway.

They continue academic careers in Poland and abroad, pursue doctoral studies and join research teams in a wide range of scientific disciplines. Graduates also find employment in high-technology industries, data analysis, information technology, consulting and other fields that require the ability to integrate knowledge from different disciplines and solve complex problems.
